Veterinary Consent & Legal Compliance

Veterinary Referral: Under the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966,veterinary consent or referral is required before your animal can be treated with Physiotherapy.

Right to Refuse: Thrive Animal Therapy reserves the right to stop or refuse treatment if an animal is unsafe, shows signs of contagious illness, or requires primary veterinary attention first.

Appointments & Cancellations

Thrive Animal Therapy understands that there may be extenuating circumstances forcing you to cancel your appointment such as medical conditions for either yourself or your pet. In other circumstances, if at least 24 hours’ notice is not given, we reserve the right to charge 50% of the appointment charge.

Owner and Animal Preparation

Clean and Dry: Animals should ideally be clean, dry, and free of excessive mud (especially for equine clients) before the therapist arrives.

Environment: To achieve therapeutic results, please provide an environment where the horse feels safe, calm, and close to their herd members familiar and appropriate space for treatment. For dogs, lickimats and other sensory feeding items may be used to ensure a positive association during treatment.

Health Disclosures: Owners are required to disclose any previously diagnosed health issues, behavioural issues, reactivity, or changes in the animal’s condition between sessions.

Fees & Insurance

Payment Timing: Payment is due on the day of treatment via cash, card, or BACS following receipt of an invoice, particularly if claiming through insurance. Late payments (following a grace period of 14 days) may be subject to a late payment surcharge).

Insurance Claims: Clients intending to claim through pet insurance must usually secure prior approval from both their vet and insurer, and many policies require direct client payment followed by reimbursement.
