Equine Consultancy
A unique, horse-welfare centred approach to horses
Is your horse anxious, fearful, difficult or dangerous at healthcare visits? Perhaps they’re afraid of needles or are reluctant to lift their hooves for farriery or hoof care.
Sound familiar? Lose the dread and move forward with your horse.
How I can help:
I fully endorse Co-operative Care Training for your horse; a method centered around building trust between horse and handler, reducing stress and encouraging a calm and willing horse.
By carefully working with your horse to identify exactly where their fears lie, we overcome them by changing their associations and giving them autonomy over their involvement in the procedure.
Problem areas I solve:
Quality of life for your horse (and you!) can improve dramatically by addressing problems such as:
Meet My Past Teachers
Over the years, several horses have come into my care, and each has inspired, educated and broadened my depth of understanding of every aspect of a horse’s health and wellbeing.
These individual horses alongside many more, have cumulatively shaped my entire welfare-approach to horses, their behaviour, and our management of them. Each experience has helped me to develop ways to address their true needs, and this translates in my interactions with all my clients’ horses.

Elfine – The Little Grey Arab
She came into my care due to her behavioural issues (she liked to kick and bite!) and this guided me into Positive Reinforcement Training for horses, along with Co-operative Care Training. A turning point for me professionally, this training transformed how I interacted with horses and enabled me to respond better to behavioural cues of their affective state.

Lilly – The Irish Sports Horse
Lilly had poor conformation and had been bred from a young age, which led to stifle injuries. Through targeted groundwork exercises, I could improve Lilly’s strength, stability and movement, while supporting her stifles and reducing compensatory strain caused by her conformation and previous injuries.

Buster – The Flighty Pony
Buster was a very reactive pony with no history and a propensity for blind bolting. I helped build trust, confidence and predictability for him, reducing fear-based reactions and helping him feel more comfortable and willing to participate in handling and care.

Zeva – The New Zealander
Given to me whilst in New Zealand, she had been ‘broken in’ by a cowboy which led to an extreme aversion to anything touching her legs, likely due to having been ‘roped’.
I took her through a Counter Conditioning Process which resulted in a confident and comfortable Zeva, happy to be groomed, handled and even wear boots!

Maverick – The Spanish Rescue Mule
Maverick was born at Positive Horse Training, Spain and was rehomed to me in May 2025. It was then that we began our rehabilitation journey to help him acclimatise to his new home. Fundamentally, he had to learn to be a ridden mule.

Pioneer – My Homebred Sport Horse
Pioneer deepened my understanding of herd interactions and foal behaviour. He enabled me to develop positive connections from birth, using fear-free foal handling techniques to nurture his confidence and build his skills at appropriate stages of his development. He truly taught me the power of creating the most natural, low-stress environment possible for positive training.
Co-operative Care Sessions
Sessions can be booked in blocks (minimum of 5) to breakdown the desired behaviour into achievable learning chunks for your horse.

Equine Physiotherapy
Every treatment is individualised to your horse, ensuring they receive the highest standard of care to support both their physical wellbeing and emotional comfort.
As a member of the International Equine Professionals (IEP), I take a holistic approach, looking beyond symptoms to understand the whole horse. My extensive training across a range of therapies enables me to select the most effective techniques for each horse, at every appointment.
Each session begins with a detailed history and comprehensive assessment, including posture, movement, muscle balance, joint mobility and areas of tension or discomfort. Wherever appropriate, I also observe your horse in motion to identify any asymmetries, gait abnormalities or signs of pain before creating a personalised treatment plan.
Treatment may include a combination of:
- Massage therapy
- Myofascial release
- Joint mobilisation
- Craniosacral therapy
- Therapeutic stretching
- Electrotherapies
